Etymology: < melass- (in melasses, variant of molasses n.) + -ic suffix. Compare French mélassique (1867). N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (mĭlæ·sik) /mɪˈlæsɪk/.
Chemistry. Obsolete.
