Etymology: < mass n.2 + -ify suffix. Compare French massifier to make a group of people uniform (1801, but rare before mid 20th cent.). Compare earlier massification n.
transitive. To treat (people or society) as an undifferentiated mass; to promote or enforce cultural uniformity. Also: to adapt (a product, etc.) for the masses, or for a mass market.
