1931 M. Grieve Mod. Herbal (1967) II. 523/2 In South America Matico is used like cubeb. Its styptic properties are due to the volatile oil, and it is used for arresting hæmorrhages, as a local application to ulcers, in genito-urinary complaints, atonic diarrhœa, dysentery, etc.
