Of, relating to, or in accordance with the theories of Russian literary theorist Mikhail Bakhtin (1895–1975).Bakhtin was best known for formulating the concepts of dialogism (dialogism n. 4), heteroglossia (heteroglossia n.), and polyphony (polyphony n. 2b), which were first introduced in his 1929 work Problems of Dostoevsky’s Poetics (translated into English in 1984). His first book to be translated into English (in 1968) was Rabelais and his World.
