Etymology: < the name of Abdul Mejid (Mecid in modern Turkish orthography), Ottoman Sultan from 1839–61 (see quot. 18482) + -ite suffix1.
Mineralogy. Now rare.
A poorly characterized uranium mineral, possibly a uranium sulphate, first found near Adrianople (now Edirne), north-west Turkey.
