Mineralogy.

A hydrated carbonate and hydroxide of magnesium and aluminium, Mg₆Al₂CO₃(OH)₁₆·4H₂O, that is dimorphous with hydrotalcite, crystallizes in the hexagonal system, and occurs as soft, foliated, whitish masses having a pearly lustre and a greasy feel.
