单词 authenticity
释义

authenticityn.

Brit. /ˌɔːθɛnˈtɪsᵻti/, U.S. /ˌɔˌθɛnˈtɪsədi/, /ˌɔθənˈtɪsədi/, /ˌɑˌθɛnˈtɪsədi/, /ˌɑθənˈtɪsədi/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: authentic adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < authentic adj. + -ity suffix; compare -icity suffix. Compare Old Occitan autenticitat (probably 1343), French authenticité (1557 in an isolated attestation in Middle French as autentiquité, subsequently from 1684).In sense 3d after French authenticité (1946 (in the passage translated in quot. 1948) or earlier in this sense), itself after the specific philosophical use of German Eigentlichkeit (1927 in this sense in M. Heidegger Sein u. Zeit). Compare slightly earlier authentic adj. 7e. It is unclear whether the following shows an earlier instance of the word (as a typographical error), or a different formation:1657 J. Trapp Comm. Job i. 1 Sufficiently asserting the authentity and authority of this Book.
1. The fact or quality of being true or in accordance with fact; veracity; correctness. Also (overlapping with sense 3c) accurate reflection of real life, verisimilitude. N.E.D. (1885) notes that by some writers, especially on the textual tradition of the New Testament and other early Christian writings, authenticity has been restricted to this sense, genuineness being preferred for sense 3a.
