Characteristic of or resembling a marabout; of or relating to the veneration of marabouts. maraboutic crisis n. a period of civil unrest in Morocco, from the beginning of the 15th to the end of the 17th cent., during which the marabouts attempted to assert religious authority over the Berbers.
