1963 Times 12 June 11/3 Dr. Subandrio said they had agreed to set up consultative machinery which would be the basis for close association among the three countries [sc. Malaya, Indonesia, and the Philippines], and to call it ‘Maphilindo’ taking in the names of the three countries.

1965 Ann. Reg. 1964 94 Brunei received an invitation from Indonesia to support the plan for Maphilindo (the closer union of Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia proposed at the Manila summit meeting of 1963).

1978 Internat. Organization 32 444 (note) The Macapagal Plan for a pan-Malay organization never went beyond the adoption of the Manila Declaration in August 1963. Maphilindo, created by that declaration, never became a functioning IGO.

During a temporary lull in ‘Confrontation’, tripartite meetings of representatives of Malaya, the Philippines and Indonesia were held..which culminated in the formation of a new organization of the three countries, Maphilindo... The organization was inoperative because confrontation was renewed.
