Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin manducabilis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin manducabilis (4th cent., after ancient Greek βρῶσιμος; from late 12th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin mandūcāre (see manducate v.) + -ābilis -able suffix. N.E.D. (1905) gives the pronunciation as (mæ·ndiŭkăb'l) /ˈmændjʊkəb(ə)l/.
Obsolete.
