Origin: A borrowing from Icelandic. Etymon: Icelandic mæði.
Etymology: < Icelandic mæði weariness, shortness of breath (Old Icelandic mœði ; compare Faroese møði < the same Scandinavian base as Old Icelandic móðr weary (see mothe adj.)).
Veterinary Medicine.
1. A slowly progressive, fatal, chronic pneumonia of sheep caused by a lentivirus.
