Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French mal de mer.
Etymology: < French mal de mer (16th cent. in Middle French; 1505 in sense ‘scurvy’) < mal mal n. + de de prep. + mer sea (see mere n.1).Not fully naturalized in English.
