Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; probably modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: madid adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < madid adj. + -ity suffix, probably after post-classical Latin madiditas (from 12th cent. in British sources). N.E.D. (1904) indicates the stress as ˈmadidity.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Moisture; moistness.
