Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with English elements. Etymons: macro- comb. form, Greek σῶμα , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < macro- comb. form + ancient Greek σῶμα body (see soma n.2) + -ic suffix, after macrosomia n.
Medicine.
Affected by macrosomia; esp. designating a fetus or neonate that is excessively large for its gestational age.
