单词 maciation
释义

maciationn.

Origin: Probably formed within English, by back-formation. Etymon: emaciation n.
Etymology: Probably back-formation < emaciation n. (compare fuscation n. < obfuscation n.), rather than from the rare post-classical Latin maciare to attenuate < classical Latin maciēs leanness (see macies n.). The word may have been coined to make a formal distinction between the two principal senses of maceration (see maceration n. 1, 2). N.E.D. (1904) indicates the stress as maciˈation.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
The action or an act of making something lean.

1727 N. Bailey Universal Etymol. Eng. Dict. II Maciation, a making lean.
