lowableadj.

Forms: Middle English louable, Middle English lowabul, Middle English loweable, Middle English lowuabyll, Middle English–1600s lowable.

Etymology: Probably partly < 'low v.3 + -able suffix, and party < Middle French louable praiseworthy (1st half of the 12th cent. in Anglo-Norman) < classical Latin laudābilis laudable adj.In early use, this word can be difficult to distinguish in form from lovable adj.2, with which it overlaps semantically. It is possible that some examples given here belong at that entry instead.
