With plural (or occasionally singular) agreement: a small phylum of minute invertebrates that adhere to particles in marine sediments, characterized by a spiny anterior introvert and an abdomen encased in a cuticular lorica. Also (with plural agreement): animals of this phylum (collectively or individually).The Loricifera constitute one of the most recently discovered phyla, and they are thought to be aschelminths related to rotifers and nematodes.
