释义 | lord's meern. English regional (Derbyshire). Mining (now historical). A portion of a mere (mere n.2 2) or vein of ore which is in land belonging to the lord or owner of the mine where it occurs. Cf. lord n. 3c. ΚΠ 1747 W. Hooson Miners Dict. sig. A2 [The Barmaster] looks after..Lordsmears, Pringaps [etc.]. 1824 J. Mander Derbyshire Miners' Gloss. 42 In some places the meer is 32 yards, and in others 29; and they are distinguished by ‘Lords Meers’, ‘Founder Meers’, and ‘Taker Meers’. 1887 R. Hunt Brit.
