1889 Colonia 1 i. 26 ‘Logging-up’ is generally done in the autumn, when there are strong gales of wind blowing. The bush which has been felled in the winter, is set fire to, and after a day or two when the ground is sufficiently cool for walking on, the still-burning logs are rolled together and piled up with rubbish, so that they may be burnt clean away.
