Etymology: < Lobedu Lobedu, self-designation.Variation between the forms Lobedu and Lovedu corresponds formally to the differing modern orthographies of the voiced bilabial fricative in the Lobedu sound system. The Lobedu plural form Balobedu (also as Balobelu, Vhalovedu) occurs slightly earlier in English context in the following:1931 Bantu Stud. 5 207 Among the Balobedu whose queen Modjadge is renowned for her great rain-making powers, rain ceremonies predominate.
