Origin: Probably a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: English loca.
Etymology: Probably the reflex of Old English loca enclosed space (see lock n.2). Compare also Middle Dutch loke enclosed area (see lock n.2).
English regional (East Anglian).
A lane; spec. a blind alley, a cul-de-sac; a narrow grass path; a private lane or path. Cf. lokeway n.
