Etymology: < look v. + at prep., with respelling intended to reflect reduction of the second element. With sense 1 compare earlier look at and look at here at look v. 9a(c); compare also earlier looky v. With sense 2 compare look v. 1a(a).
colloquial (originally and chiefly U.S.). In imperative or optative use.
