Etymology: < Anglo-Norman limer = Old French liemier (modern French limier ), < Old French liem (French lien ) leash: see lien n.1 and lyam n.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈlimer.
Obsolete (exc. archaic).
A kind of hound, properly a leash-hound; in early use (and now archaic) a bloodhound; later, a mongrel.
