单词 lisk
释义

liskn.

/lɪsk/
Forms: α. Middle English Orm. lesske, Middle English–1600s leske, 1500s Scottish leisk, 1600s– lesk. β. 1500s– lisk, (1600s liske, lysk). γ. Middle English–1500s laske, 1700s lask.
Origin: Probably a borrowing from early Scandinavian.
Etymology: Probably of Scandinavian origin: compare Middle Swedish liuske, liumske (modern Swedish ljumske) masculine, Danish lyske, Middle Dutch, Flemish liesche (feminine) (modern Dutch lies feminine); a form lesca ‘inguen’ in the Werden Glosses (Gallée O.S. Texts 360) may possibly be Old English (for *léosca), but the sk (instead of sh) of the Middle English and modern forms shows that they do not descend from this.
Now dialect.
The loin or flank; also, the groin.
