I. ii. 43 The Baltic Sea became of much the same configuration as at present, but rather larger in extent and more salt; the name given to this stage of its history, once more derived from the name of its mollusc, is Littorina Sea. The greatest depression of this phase of land-movement may be called the Littorina Minimum. The Littorina period is also known as the Tapes period.
