1897 Jrnl. Chem. Soc. 72 ii. 269 There is no crystallographic relation between this mineral and blödite.., so that the older but unpublished name, leonite, is used in preference to kaliblödite.
1932 Bull. U.S. Geol. Surv. No. 833. 44 In the Joe Mitchell well at a depth of 1,368 feet pale-yellow leonite with a waxy luster is intimately mixed with kainite... In places leonite occurs in larger blebs.
1970 Mineral. & Petrogr. Acta XVI. 14/2 This appears to be the first occurrence of leonite for Vesuvian fumaroles. Leonite is known to be associated in salt deposits of oceanic origin, at Stassfurt with halite, at Leopoldshall with kainite, and at Ascherleben.
