1929 Official Gaz. (U.S. Patent Office) 21 May 591/1 Launder-Ometer. For laundry washing machines. Claims use since April 27, 1928.

1938 Year Bk. Amer. Assoc. Textile Chemists & Colorists XV. 138 The Launder-Ometer..consists of a heavily constructed copper tank.., supported upon a rigid angle-iron frame. Within this tank there is a brass and aluminum rotor that carries the twenty standard pint jars in which the tests are made.

1958 Observer 30 Mar. 11/5 Cotton and other coloured materials are tested in a launderometer, a machine which reproduces as many domestic washes as are considered necessary.

1961 K. Durham Surface Activity & Detergency ix. 229 The Launderometer..is merely a tank containing a simple mechanism for holding and rotating jars, each containing steel balls, into which the fabric and solution are placed; the jars are rotated and the steel balls provide agitation. The rate of rotation and the weight of the balls are both variable.
