Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin largitūdō.
Etymology: < classical Latin largitūdō liberality, in post-classical Latin also breadth, width (14th cent.) < largus (see large adj.) + -tūdō -tude suffix. Compare Middle French largitude liberality (a1506).Quot. 1590 translates a Middle French original which has not been traced.
