单词 authorizable
释义

authorizableadj.

Brit. /ˈɔːθərʌɪzəbl/, U.S. /ˈɔθəˌraɪzəb(ə)l/, /ˈɑθəˌraɪzəb(ə)l/
Forms: Middle English auctorysable, 1500s auctorizable, 1500s authorysable, 1500s autorysabyl, 1600s– authorizable, 1700s– authorisable.
Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly either (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: French auctorisable ; Latin auctorizabilis ; authorize v., -able suffix.
Etymology: In senses 1 and 2 either (i) < Middle French auctorisable, auctorizable, authorisable, auttorisable authoritative, credible, worthy of credit (13th cent. in Old French; < auctoriser , auctorizer , etc. authorize v. + -able -able suffix; French autorisable now only in sense ‘able to be authorized’ (1845 in this sense)), or (ii) < post-classical Latin auctorizabilis (also auctorisabilis) authoritative (13th cent.; from 14th cent. in British sources; < auctorizare authorize v. + classical Latin -bilis -ble suffix). In sense 3 independently (iii) < authorize v. + -able suffix.
