In Jewish usage: a skullcap worn by Jewish men during prayer and other religious services and rituals, and by strictly Orthodox Jewish men at all times; a yarmulke, a kippah.The word is now rare compared with yarmulke and kippah and is predominantly used in British Jewish communities and by some Orthodox Jews elsewhere.
