A reddish-white rhombohedral carbonate of calcium, manganese, magnesium, and sometimes iron, belonging to the dolomite group of minerals.

1907 Mineral. Mag. 14 402 Kutnohorite... A rhombohedral carbonate with the atomic ratios Ca:Mn:Fe:Mg = 7:5:1:2 occurring as reddish-white cleavage-masses.

1955 Amer. Mineralogist 15 751 Kutnahorite occurs at Franklin as anhedral masses with curved cleavage surfaces up to three centimeters in size in a small veinlet cutting the normal franklinite ore. It is translucent, with a pale pink color.

1962 W. A. Deer et al. Rock-forming Minerals V. 267 Kutnohorites from Franklin containing approximately 10 per cent. excess CaCO₃ show some degree of order in their structure.

1967 Amer. Mineralogist 52 1751 Occurrences of kutnahorite have been recorded from Franklin, New Jersey.., Kutná Hora, Czechoslovakia.., Chvaletice, Czechoslovakia..and Providencia, Mexico.
