1965 Austral. Encycl. I. 72/2 The Kurnai of Gippsland used to cut one or both hands from a corpse. The hand was wrapped in grass and dried, and a possum-fur string attached so that it could be worn about the neck of a near relative. By pushing or pinching the wearer, it was said to give warning of an approaching enemy.
