Etymology: < labialize v. + -ation suffix, perhaps after German Labialisierung (1860 or earlier as Labialisirung ). Compare earlier nasalization n., palatalization n.Compare French labialisation (1868; after German).
Phonetics.
The action of making a speech sound labial (labial adj. 1) in pronunciation or articulation, as a secondary articulatory feature; the fact of a speech sound being labialized in this way.
