Origin: A borrowing from Arawak. Etymon: Arawak labaria.
Etymology: < Arawak labaria ( < laba paca (see labba n.) + uri snake), so called on account of its spotted markings.
Any of several highly venomous snakes (pit vipers and coral snakes) of Central and South America; esp. the fer de lance, Bothrops atrox.
