Etymology: < French Labadiste (1670 or earlier; now hist.) < the name of Jean de Labadie (1610–74), French mystic + -iste -ist suffix. Compare later Labadism n.
Christian Church. Now historical.
A member of a communistic Protestant sect holding pietist views founded by the French mystic Jean de Labadie and active until the 1730s.
