Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: kinema n., colour n.1
Etymology: < kinema n. + colour n.1Invented by English film pioneer George Albert Smith (1864–1959). The spelling color was perhaps intended to match the classical form of the first element kinema.
Now historical.
A method (used in early filmmaking) of producing films in colour in which alternating exposures are made through red and green filters.
