1931 W. F. Foshag in Amer. Mineralogist 16 352 In the Calico Hills, San Bernardino County, California, a small deposit of sulfates of iron [was found]. This deposit was found to contain a fair abundance of a new sulfate of iron and potash... For this new mineral species the writer proposes the name krausite.
