Etymology: Partly < an early precursor of Eastern Canadian Inuit qallunaaq Qallunaaq n. (plural qallunaat Qallunaat n.), and partly < its cognate early Greenlandic Inuit Kablunâk foreigner, European, especially Dane (1804; now qaɬɬunaaq ). Compare earlier kabloonat n.In β. forms with -dl- after Eastern Canadian Inuit dialectal forms.
