1957 H. Umezawa et al. in Jrnl. Antibiotics (Tokyo) A. X. 188 An antibiotic was isolated from a streptomyces which was assigned to a new species S. kanamyceticus, n. sp. Okami et Umezawa... This antibiotic was named kanamycin.
