Etymology: < Nandi Kalenjin (c1945 in the name of an organization) < kalenjin, literally ‘I say to you, I tell you’, with allusion to the word being used by radio correspondent John arap Chemallan to introduce his Nandi-language broadcasts during the Second World War.
