Etymology: < post-classical Latin Iudaeo-, combining form (in e.g. Iudaeo-Samaritanus (1616 or earlier), Iudaeo-Germanicus (see Judaeo-German adj. and n.)) of classical Latin Iūdaeus (see Judaean adj.); compare -o- connective. The earliest formations, Judaeo-Teutonic (see quot. 1778 at sense 1) and Judaeo-Samaritan (see quot. 1795 at sense 1), may show adaptations of German jüdischdeutsch (see Judaeo-German adj. and n.; compare post-classical Latin Iudaeo-Teutonicus, 1781 or earlier) and post-classical Latin Iudaeo-Samaritanus (1616 or earlier) respectively.
