单词 | jazzophone |
释义 | jazzophonen. Now historical. A type of musical instrument (see note). The jazzophone appears to have enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the late 1920s and early 1930s. A contemporary advertisement (1928) illustrates a trumpet with two bells, one muted. In addition to the three trumpet valves, there is a fourth which, when pressed, switches between the two bells. The jazzophone was also sometimes in the shape of a saxophone, with a trumpet mouthpiece. New Grove Dict. Music (2001) (Electronic ed.) at Kazoo states that the term jazzophone was applied to a type of kazoo fitted with a trumpet or trombone bell at one end.
