释义 | Johnson barn. U.S. Now historical and rare. In a vehicle: a control lever with several different positions and a sprung trigger which must be depressed in order to move the lever from one position to another; esp. (in early use) a lever of this kind used in a steam locomotive to control the timing with which steam is admitted to the pistons.In a steam locomotive the Johnson bar can be used to change the direction in which the wheels turn. For this reason it is also often called a reversing bar.
