Johnny-one-note n. originally and chiefly U.S. (a name for) a person who specializes in or concentrates on only one area of activity, or has competence in only one limited subject.Popularized by a song in the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart musical Babes in Arms, telling the story of a singer who can only sing one note; see quot. 19371.
