/ˌdʒabᵻˈruː/, /ˈdʒabᵻruː/, U.S. /ˌ(d)ʒæbəˈru/, /ˈ(d)ʒæbəˈˌru/ A large wading bird of tropical and subtropical America ( Mycteria americana), of the stork family. Also applied to the allied Xenorhynchus australis, X. indicus, and X. asiaticus (which is closely related to the tropical American Jabiru mycteria), and Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis, of the Old World.
