Etymology: < instrument n. + -arium suffix, originally after German Instrumentarium collection or group of (in early use, surgical) instruments (1823 or earlier; 1790 or earlier in sense ‘treatise describing and depicting surgical instruments’), itself after post-classical Latin instrumentarium treatise describing and depicting surgical instruments (1781 in an Austrian work title, Instrumentarium chirurgicum, or earlier).
A collection or group of instruments (in various senses).
