Etymology: < international adj. + -ize suffix. Compare French internationaliser (1845 in sense 1, 1920 in sense 2, in the latter sense after English), German internationalisieren (1873 or earlier (as internationalisiren ) in sense 2). Compare slightly earlier internationalization n. and internationalizing n.
