Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin intellectibilis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin intellectibilis capable of being apprehended by the intellect alone (4th cent.) < classical Latin intellect- , past participial stem of intellegere (see intelligent adj.) + -ibilis -ible suffix. Compare earlier intelligible adj.
