Biochemistry.

A crystalline nucleoside, C₅H₉O₄·C₅H₃N₄O, in which the base is hypoxanthine and the sugar ribose, and which is used in kidney transplantation to provide a temporary supply of sugar and hence minimize ischaemic damage.
