Etymology: < Old French enditer, -ditier, -ditter < Latin type *indictāre , < in- (in- prefix3) + dictāre to declare, dictate, compose in words, frequentative of dīcĕre to say. The same word originally as indict v.1, but retaining the French form of the radical part.
